What to expect when you come in to Brampton Civic Care Centre:

You will be greeted by our friendly reception and administration team, who will ask you to complete a consent to treatment form and explain your health coverage whether it is accident benefits, private insurance (Extended Health Coverage) or WSIB.

Your physiotherapist will then take you to the treatment room for your initial assessment. This is an opportunity for the physiotherapist to learn more about you, including understanding your pain, discomfort or injury, to assess the causes, to devise a treatment plan and to set goals with you.  You will be actively involved in your treatment.

Treatment often begins by managing the pain response and addressing any factors identified in the assessment process.

Our large team of physiotherapist use a range of treatment techniques, including:

  • Manipulation
  • Acupuncture
  • Kinesiology taping
  • Soft tissue release
  • Mobilization
  • Trigger point release
  • Biomechanical analysis
  • Gait analysis
  • Strengthening exercises
  • Proprioception and balance exercises
  • TENS machine
  • Shockwave Therapy

Your treatment will be individualized and directed at returning you to full function.

A holistic integrated approach to your treatment:

Your physiotherapist may see that you would benefit from an immediate referral for further therapy, including acupuncture, massage or chiropractic.  We take a multidisciplinary approach to your health and your physiotherapist understands when to refer you on for further investigation or treatment.

Your treatment progress:

Most conditions show some improvement within 1 to 4 sessions. You should be able to see or feel improvement in your problem.  Your physiotherapist is focused on giving you cost-effective, time-efficient management of your discomfort, pain and injury.

In addition to providing you with an initial resolution to your problem, we are also concerned with your long-term well being and minimizing the likelihood of your injury recurring. This is where your active participation with asking questions and performing exercises is required.  You will achieve the best results when you are truly committed to your own recovery.

Be informed and ask questions:

To help you prepare for your treatment sessions, here are useful questions to consider asking your physiotherapist:

  • What is my diagnosis?
  • How serious is the problem?
  • How long is the recovery? When I can return to normal activity?
  • What do I need to do to help my recovery?
  • How can I avoid this happening again?
  • How do we measure my progress?
  • What happens if I don’t get better?
